Aura Solar I

Our first project materializes our vision: revolutionizing the way we develop, structure, and manage solar projects. It represents a milestone in the field of solar generation in Mexico, which triggered full-scale solar PV development in the country.

In commercial operation since 2013, the Aura Solar I facility is the first solar PV large-scale project in Mexico. Located in the city of La Paz, Baja California Sur, a region with one of the highest average solar irradiation indexes in the country (more than 5.8 kWh/m2 per day), Aura I provides renewable energy exclusively to CFE under a 20-year PPA. It produces the amount of renewable energy equivalent to the consumption of 60% of homes in La Paz, BCS, avoiding the emissions of 45,000 tons of CO2 per year.

Aura Solar II

In 2015, Gauss initiated its international expansion with the launch of the Aura Solar II project in Honduras. The facility is located in Choluteca, southern Honduras, a region with the highest solar resources in Central America, with an irradiation average above 5.5 kWh/m2 per day. At commercial operation, Aura II was the biggest project in Mexico and Central America. It includes private equity from Mexico and Honduras, as well as project financing from multilateral and Exim banks.

The project is backed by the government of Honduras as a joint obligor of the national off-taker ENEE, through a Support Agreement approved by the National Assembly, which promotes the advancement of the development of energy generation projects through renewable sources, particularly solar PV.

Generating 125 GWh of clean energy a year, the equivalent of a supply that fulfills the power needs of more than 80,000 Honduran families.

Aura Solar III

This is the first generation project in Mexico with a large-scale solar+storage solution. The battery energy storage solution (BESS) is based on lithium-ion battery technology with a capacity of 10.5 MW. Aura III is also the first solar project in Mexico to utilize a fully integrated solution with string inverters.

In commercial operation since 2018, Aura III is located in the city of La Paz, Baja California Sur. The project operates under a legacy generation permit granted by the Comisión Reguladora de Energía (CRE) according to the Small Producer regulatory regime. The energy produced by this plant is delivered exclusively to CFE based on the Local Marginal Price (PML) of the La Paz node.

It avoids the emission of 35,000 tons of CO2 per year. It produces clean energy equivalent to the consumption of 50% of homes in La Paz, BCS.
